4 New Tech Trends in 2023
It’s become a cliché to say technology is ever-changing. You know this. But the pace of innovation is probably the biggest surprise we’ve seen over the past five years. It’s exponential change, driving innovation in literally every industry and touching every person and every home in this country. For IT professionals, they understand that the job they have today will probably not be what they’re doing tomorrow. Ask any developer today, and they’ll tell you they must be ABL—always be learning—or they simply can’t keep up.
But where does that leave the rest of us? What trends will impact our businesses in the New Year? We looked at predictions for 2023 and found four trends that will affect your workplace next year. Here’s what you need to know.
Tech Trends for 2023
#1 AI
Artificial intelligence is all around us. Machine learning algorithms, an element of AI, power everything from Google searches to Amazon eCommerce and everything in between. AI is the automation fueling recruiting search platforms and newsfeeds on social media.
As a technology, AI is changing how computers interact with end-users. Tools like natural language processing (NLP), another AI algorithm, enable voice recognition, fueling our increasingly human-like interactions with our Siri and Alexa tools.
In the coming year, look for AI automation to increasingly eliminate mundane tasks. This will require businesses to rethink workflows and reskill workforces to better use these tools.
#2 Computer Power
Faster processing speeds, along with more reliable and quicker internet connectivity is driving the push for wider 5G adoption and the rollout of what will soon be 6G. It’s also driving the localization of data centers to help avoid latency and speed data flow. With billions of new Internet of Things (IoT) devices coming online in the coming years, there is an increasing demand for more computing power to handle the data loads. All of this will require more specialized IT teams to grow and manage these systems.
#3 Data
We’ve been capturing a massive amount of data from our online activities over the past decade. We now have the computing power and the software to make that data actionable. We are rapidly moving into an era where every company and every industry will make data-driven decisions. Beyond the raw data, watch for increasing growth of predictive analytics platforms. These tools take data and use it to predict future behaviors or activities. These models are already in play in future-state financial forecasts to determine if we’ll have a recession in 2023. Financial institutions use these tools to predict which potential customers are high lending risk. Watch for more jobs to crop up in predictive analytics as well as all the data sciences.
#4 3D Printing
3D printing is used today to build everything from houses to human organs. This technology is rapidly increasing in sophistication, and it will significantly impact the supply chain as these tools create traditionally machined products. There will be a huge demand for professionals understanding this spatial and computer science.
